Community Home Resident Wins Special Olympics Medal

Meet Iraione, a resident of the Craft Community Home. She recently won a medal for the Walk/Run event at the Special Olympics. Iraione has been with Volunteers of America since 1991; prior to Craft, she lived at Arcadia and Park Place community homes. She has been diagnosed with severe mental retardation, cerebral palsy, and communication disorder; however, she hasn't let that hinder her from achieving her goals.

Iraione has built a reputation for being an active and lively member of her group home. "She's very helpful", said Cabrini Johnson, a staff member at Craft. She's been known to help with laundry and household chores, among other tasks.

In addition to her athletic achievements, Iraione is also an accomplished student - she graduated from Frederick Douglass Senior High School recently in a ceremony held at Tulane University.

Congrats Iraione, keep up the good work!
